Adult vacations are the perfect way to enjoy a relaxing and unforgettable vacation without being surrounded by screaming children. It’s not necessarily that we don’t like children, but many times when you're on vacation you want to be at peace and without crying babies and children running around in every direction.

During an adult vacation, individuals or couples may want to be able to engage in adult pursuits, and many newlyweds prefer to enjoy their honeymoon without families and children. Family vacations are wonderful, but adult vacations are for adults only. Adult only vacations are becoming increasingly popular and acceptable for those adults who want to travel and experience a fantastic vacation without the kids and commotion.

Adult Custom and Adventure Vacations

Many travel companies offer custom adult vacations. These allow individuals, couples or groups to choose itineraries that they will enjoy, but that won't necessarily be enjoyed by children - such as hiking, biking, safaris, wine and fine cuisine themed vacations, and other trips off the tourist track. Adults Only and Couples Only Resorts

Adults only resorts are resorts which specifically and exclusively cater to adults. A variation of this are the couples only resorts, where singles and adult families are not allowed. Couples only resorts are about intimate settings, romance, candle lit dinners, and spa facilities. Children are forbidden at these resorts in order to provide a quiet ambiance for adults who want to enjoy the company of other adults.

The Caribbean and Mexico have numerous adults only resorts. Adults only usually means that you must be at least 18 years old, though in some places the age is 16. Some popular all inclusive adults only resorts and couples only resorts include:

Adults Only or Adult Oriented Cruises

Disney Cruises and other family cruises are wonderful and very fun. Yet sometimes cruise vacations can be ruined by children interfering with the peace and serenity of the cruising experience. A screaming child in the dining room does not make for a romantic dinner. Adults only cruises are cruises that are designed specially for or geared more towards adults, and children are not permitted to embark on these cruises. The onboard activities and onshore activities are all specifically designed for adults, to accommodate their interests and honor their wishes to be free of children. Some cruises, such as Bare Necessities even allow you to sail nude.

Other Cruises may have atmospheres that are typically draw more adults because thye do not offer children's facilities or play areas. Shore excursions may involve extreme or adventure experiences, or the onboard activities may be quite and adult oriented, such as libraries and spas. P and O Cruises is one of the few cruise lines to offer adult only cruises.

Adults Only Bed and Breakfast, Inns, and Villas

These places cater to adults the same way that adults only resorts do, except in a more private and intimate setting. Children are not permitted to stay in these places. Clothing Optional Resorts

Clothing optional resorts vary depending on the areas where clothing is required. Many resorts require clothing in the main areas of the resort, while others permit nudity in all areas of the resort. Most clothing optional resorts have nudist beaches.

Adults Only Hot Spots

These unconventional adult only resorts are designed for those who want to bare it all. There are many variations, but most offer many nude activities such as naked scuba diving, nude beauty contests, nude volleyball, and erotic nightclubs and parties. Many of these adult hot spots are not really the perfect place for couples, but are mainly designed to cater to lonely men who are looking for paid companionship from beautiful young women. For obvious reasons most of these places are located outside the United States, many in the Caribbean and other exotic travel destinations.

Don't feel bad about leaving the kids at home. Adult vacations might seem out of the ordinary, but they are actually the norm. According to the Travel Industry Association of America, the majority of vacationers travel without children. In 2003, 32 percent of the nearly 635 million people who traveled in the United States did so on adult only vacations. In comparison, only 36 percent traveled with children. The statistics also show that married people take more trips than families or singles.

Adult vacations come in many forms, from adventure travel to romance. Whether you are getting away for some time away with your spouse, are a couple or single without children, there are more travel options than ever before catering to adult tastes to help you find the perfect getaway.
