New York City Hotel: The Skyline Hotel
From LoveToKnow Travel
In a city where finding classy, affordable lodging with a New York City hotel can be challenging and where nightly rates can vary from hundreds to thousands, the Skyline Hotel is affordable, clean, and devoted to customer service.
Location
The Skyline Hotel is located in the Hell’s Kitchen section of midtown Manhattan. Hell’s Kitchen may evoke images of poor tenants, gangs, and crime. In fact, the famed musical, West Side Story, is set in Hell’s Kitchen. Times have changed. Hell’s Kitchen now is an up and coming area full of attractive buildings, flower gardens, and restaurants. Due to Hell’s Kitchen’s close proximity to Broadway, the area is also becoming popular with those with acting careers. Located on 10th Avenue, guests will be delighted to learn that Broadway and the excitement of Times Square are just a five-minute walk away. This walk is easy for small children and attractive shops line the streets on the way to the busier Times Square. Other city highlights are easily accessible by subway. Visitors will be pleased to find that a subway stop is a block away.
Accommodations at the Skyline Hotel
The Skyline Hotel’s rooms and furnishings have undergone major transformations in the past two years. The Skyline Hotel offers attractive décor in its cozy rooms. There are four room types. Starting with the smaller Standard Room, guests will find two double beds and a private bath. Up next is the Deluxe Queen, which offers the same layout as a Standard Room, but queen beds are included instead. The Deluxe King Room offers a king bed and separate sofa bed. Finally, guests looking for a little more room will be delighted with the Two-Room Deluxe Suite. In this larger room, the living and sleeping quarters are separate. In the Two-Room Deluxe Suite, the bedroom area contains a king bed and sofa bed and the living room contains a sofa bed also. All rooms contain satellite television, in-room Nintendo, and wireless Internet access. Those without wireless laptops need not despair, the hotel also offers in-room WebTV for an additional fee. In all rooms, children under the age of 12 stay free.
Amenities
The Skyline Hotel offers a special amenity that makes this New York City hotel truly stand out. Guests driving in the city may have discovered just how absurd parking garage rates can be. Parking is extremely difficult and rates vary from $2.50 to $20 an hour. The Skyline Hotel offers an exceptional deal of $8 per day for an average sized vehicle. Extremely large vans and trucks are an additional $5. Regardless, both $8 and $13 per day are rates visitors will not find anywhere else in the city!
The Skyline Hotel offers another unique amenity. The Skyline Hotel is the only hotel in Manhattan that offers a penthouse with an in-ground heated swimming pool. There is nothing more memorable than swimming at night while gazing at the lights of the New York City skyline. Children love the warmth of the pool’s water; parents love the panoramic view.
Newcomers to the city will find themselves falling in love with the hotel’s concierge. This truly amazing man will help plan a guest’s entire vacation in the blink of an eye. His knowledge of the area is impeccable, and he has tickets for many attractions available right at his desk. This additional service can save a good deal of time for busy families looking to make the most of their visit.
The Skyline Hotel Restaurant
With fantastic dining a few minutes away, there really is no need to eat at the hotel. However, should a guest decide to eat in, 1050 Restaurant & Lounge is available on the ground floor. The 1050 Restaurant offers traditional American/Italian cuisine. Prices are reasonable for the area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily. A dinner of Blackened Red Snapper costs $18, while a full course meal costs $25 and contains a diner’s appetizer, dinner, and dessert. Children eat for a nicely reduced price.
Rates and Reservations
Based on current room rates, The Skyline hotel offers their Standard room for $230 per night. The Deluxe Queen or Deluxe King is a little pricier at $260 per night. Finally, the Two-Room Deluxe Suite is the most expensive at $334 per night. Reservations can be made online or through the hotel’s toll-free number.
